In the early days of his transportation business, Craig Skillicorn developed an interest in the nostalgic art of produce labels. Growers created brand names, slogans and scenic artwork depicting a variety of vegetables, fruits, citrus and the picturesque ranches, fields and groves where they were grown. Most growers created three different labels which represented the quality grades of their produce and served as great advertisements since the crates were often stacked right in the stores as displays.
This classic art and design began in the 1880’s and lasted through the late 1950’s, and now are a beautiful memory of an era gone by, Craig has over 300 original labels in his collection, many are framed and on display in Greenway’s corporate headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona.
